5 Productive Ways to Pass the Time During Your Quarantine!

If you’re anything like me, then this crazy time has taken a toll on you. I suffer from bad anxiety, but being social and feeding off the energy I get from my friends helps quell that anxiety. Being cooped up at home without any social interaction for the past three weeks has been difficult, but I am trying to stay productive during this time and wanted to share some tips on how you also might be able to use this new found extra time.

1) Take an Ivy League course for FREE.99. Yes, you read that correctly! There are a ton of schools giving away free courses during this time (and throughout the year even before we were under this quarantine). I am currently taking this Yale Financial Markets course (hopefully it will teach me how to stop spending my money like a crazy person), but you can find a whole listing of courses to take here and here.

2) Start that blog or podcast you have been talking about. Listen, you know you have been constantly thinking about starting that cooking blog or that sports podcast. Well, there’s no time like the present. Especially since you have very limited outside distractions right now. You may as well. I know people like to say the blogging market and the podcast world are already saturated enough and there’s no reason to start a new one, but I believe the more quality content people put out, the better. Especially right now when there’s a whole mess of people bored and looking for content to consume.

3) Start or reassess your budget! Whew, chile! This one is directed straight at me. We all are well aware that the markets are currently tanking. During this unstable time, it is especially vital to know where your money is going. This also can help you feel more prepared during this volatile time. If you already have a budget in place, kudos to you on being responsible. If you don’t, there are tons of videos on YouTube on how to create one. I personally started doing mine after watching Aja Dang’s videos. I will link her’s here. Budgeting takes time to figure out so you may as well use this time wisely while you have it.

4) Invest. Once you know where your money is going, if you are fortunate enough to have leftover money that you can soundly invest, NOW IS THE TIME Y’ALL. Now don’t ask me for investing advice cause I am not a professional financial planner, but there are lots of commission-free trading platforms out there. I really like Robinhood and TD Ameritrade. If you are new to investing, the main thing is to do your research and invest in things you are excited about.

5. Nothing! N-O-T-H-I-N-G. It is absolutely productive to do nothing during this time. We are constantly told that hustling to the point of exhaustion is the only way to get to where you want to be in life and that just isn’t true. It’s ok to take time to relax and recharge in order to be the best you, you can be. #selfcare
